Anna Kozak

ANNA KOZAK
Violin

Anna Kozak joined the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra in 2001 after winning an international audition. She holds a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Toronto and a Master of Music degree from the University of Calgary.

Prior to coming to Edmonton Anna was performing with the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra, Kensington Sinfonia, Red Deer Symphony, Okanagan Symphony and various traveling productions, as well as being a member of the Vad Ensemble and the Bell’arte String Quartet.

Anna is an active violinist on the Edmonton music scene. Besides ESO she is an assistant concertmaster of the Alberta Baroque Ensemble and a member of the Onyx String Quartet. Some of the highlights of her last season were: playing solo at the Alberta Baroque Ensemble’s Chamber Concert; performing with the Onyx String Quartet and the Piazzolla Piano Trio at the ESO Showcase at Winspear; recording a second CD and performing at Yardbird Suite with the Obsessions Octet; playing solo with the Percussion Ensemble at the Alberta College; performing a full program recital with the Onyx String Quartet at Robertson-Wesley United Church and playing a duo concert with University of Calgary violin professor Edmond Agopian at the Contrasts Chamber Music Festival at the Rozsa Centre in Calgary.

Anna's 2011/2012 season includes a full program recital with the Onyx String Quartet at the St. Albert Chamber Music Recital Series in October 2011; a solo performance of Bach’s Violin Concerto in A minor with the Alberta Baroque Ensemble on March 25, 2012 and the trip to the Carnegie Hall in New York City of course with the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra on May 8, 2012.

Besides music Anna enjoys traveling, gardening and long walks with her husband and their Great Dane “George.”
