DAN SUTHERLAND
Clarinet
Dan Sutherland began his clarinet studies at age seven in his home town of Blind River, Ontario. He subsequently took lessons in Toronto and Melbourne, Australia. Before earning degrees in performance from the University of Toronto and University of Alberta he performed with the Victoria Junior Symphony [Australia] and the Canadian National Youth Orchestra.
Since moving to Edmonton in 1981 Dan has maintained a vigorous performance schedule, usually freelancing with the Edmonton Symphony as well as touring orchestras. He is a long-term instructor at the Alberta College Conservatory of Music at MacEwan and specializes in the performance of unaccompanied works by Canadians.
